I'll be fully honest: If you don't like decks designed specifically to troll, lockdown, and laugh at every other deck, then you should probably go take a look at something else, for these are the traits of the amazing little buggers known as Dustons. Lock your opponent out of all their plays, OTK their face off, and run away laughing before they even understand what happened.
The Duston archetype debuted in Abyss Rising with the release of "House Duston". Since then, a new Duston monster has been added in each new booster pack, with Shadow Specters and Legacy of the Valiant also containing Spell and Trap support (we'll get into their usefull(les)ness later). Other non-archetypal cards have recently made there way into the Extra Deck, and our star player will be coming to the TCG in Primal Origins very soon.
Lets begin with what the actual duck these craptastic little dust mites are. At first glance, they're a bunch of unusable-level-1-no-attack monsters with detrimental effects. Oh, and a Normal Monster. And that's exactly what they are, for the opponent. But then you look at "House Duston". If he dies from an opponent's card, so long as he was face-up to begin with, you get to Special Summon as many Duston monsters as you want to anywhere on the field, provided you summon an equal number to both sides.
"House Duston" is the key to the deck, and as such there is a lot of search power for him. Quite literally 27.5% of the deck is either "House Duston" or a method to search him. You need to get him on the field as fast as you can, before your opponent is able to cover too much of their field, preventing you from spamming your little lovelies. These searchers are "Stygian Security" (Who can also search "Goblin King", if need be), "Shining Angel", and "Rai-Mei".
So now you've clogged your opponents field with literal dirt, but why is that helpful when you've done the same to yourself? From here, we have several options. Long ago (Judgement of the Light) we had only one thing to do from there: OTK. Dustons sole purpose was to cover the field in 0 ATK fiend. With 8 fiends on board, you can rack up an 8000 ATK "Goblin King", attack into one of your opponent's newfound friends (Since you can choose their battle positions) and win.
These days we have two other routes. In Premium Gold, the TCG finally got their hands on two new Xyz monsters, name "Number 13: Embodiment of Crime", and "Number 31: Embodiment of Punishment". These two force the opponent into attacking them, also having them take any damage you would have taken, yourself taking none. The catch? You have to control both of them. They're two-mat generic Rank 1s, but fret not, "House Duston" lets you give yourself 3 "White Dustons" and another of itself, and since "White Duston" is a Normal Monster, and "House Duston" has none of the restrictions of his brothers, thats 4 Level 1s outta nowhere!
Two invincible Xyz that force the opponent to kill themselves not enough? Don't worry, Dustons have a star player the assure your victory. His name is "Starduston", and he is crazy good. You summon him by simply sending to the grave those Dustons you gave yourself, and he'll gain 1000 ATK and DEF for each of them. On a good day thats a 4000 beater, and he does more than just attack! While you control him, your opponent cannot Special Summon, Flip Summon, or activate Spell or Trap cards that are Set! This is where the lockdown truly takes effect. If your opponent's field is just Dustons, then they cant summon anything without ramming weak littles dust mites in and taking huge damage. If you've got "Anti-Spell Fragrance" up, they cant activate Spell Cards from their hand, making an excellent backrow lockdown. But, what if all four of your opponent's monsters are in defense mode? "Starduston" destroys himself if you control more monsters than your opponent, so killing them off isn't going to work. No, you need to attack directly, and that's exactly what you'll do! "Opti-Camouflage Armor" is an Equip Spell that can only be equipped to Level 1 monsters - which "Starduston" is - allowing the equipped monster to attack directly! 4000 direct damage? Yes please!
If its late in the game and you're down on your luck, this deck's got you covered there too. "Dark Hole" will wipe the field of all your opponent's annoying non-dust-related monsters, ready for a new "House Duston" explosion. But all of your Dustons are in the graveyard, aren't they? Thats why you're running two "Exodius the Ultimate Forbidden Lord"; his summoning condition requires you return all monsters in your graveyard to your deck. A drawback if you were going to actually use him as anything other than a recycler. But you aren't so its all good. Oh, but he's not just a dead monster on the field, no sir. "Stygian Security" is a level 1 Tuner, so if you've got both of these two, you can synchro summon for our only Level 11 Synchro Monster: "Star Eater"! 3200 un-negatable-nigh-invincible ATK points is nothing to scoff at, after all.
Oh, and since you have essentially full and complete control of the monsters on the field, you can run powerful burn cards like "Just Desserts" and "Ceasefire". If you happen to have given yourself the colored Dustons as opposed to "White Duston", "Ceasefire" can get up to a massive 5000 damage, which is of course why it is Limited in the Advanced Format. "Just Desserts" is a little kinder, maxing out at 2500 damage following your Duston party, and if you somehow use all 3, well, you've probably got game!
For the Side Deck, it may be worth putting in a "Magicalized Duston Mop" or "Duston Roller", the two Duston support cards. Both restrict the selected monster from being used as Xyz, Synchro, Fusion, or Tribute Summon materials, just like a Duston monster. The difference is "Duston Roller" is a Normal Trap and "Magicalized Duston Mop" is an Equip Spell. They both also search for a Duston when destroyed by an opponent's card, so that is very helpful as well.
